Periodontal Disease

Periodontal disease ranges from simple gum inflammation, called gingivitis, to something  more serious that may result in damage or loss of the bone surrounding the tooth root. Periodontal disease is an infection of the tissues that support your teeth and is caused by bacteria in the plaque on teeth. This condition can usually be prevented through education in oral hygiene at regular examinations. Regular check-ups are essential for everyone to know their oral health risks and current status. At these visits clinicians educate and remove all dental plaque and tartar to enable the mouth to return to full health. Every mouth is different and treatment is tailored to specific requirements.
